Ok, so I guess I am supposed to tell you seven random things you may not know about me. As far as my JS playground friends, this will be easy. As far as the rest of my readers, you already know everything about me so you can skip this post if you want. (my readers...ha ha...sounds funny)
1. I grew up in Branson, Missouri, a country music show tourist trap. I worked for Roy Clark Celebrity Theater in high school in the ticket booth. You remember Roy Clark, right? From Hee Haw? Yeah, now you're jealous.
2. I went to college wanting to be a pediatrician. I never wanted to be a nurse, cuz I didn't want the doctors telling me what to do. It only took me a few years of college to realize that I wanted to be a mom more than I wanted to be a doctor. Plus, I didn't want to have to deal with patients as I knew I would get too emotionaly attached. The solution? Get a degree in Microbiology and work as a Medical Technologist in the lab! That way I get to work in medicine, it doesn't take me 2,987,436 years of school and residency, etc., to finish, and I don't have to interact with patients! I got my cake and ate it too! (and it shows...)
However, I am now a stay at home mom and do medical transcription from home to keep my mind from becoming rusty.
3. I have recently become a computer geek. (no surprise there for you JS friends). I was very excited last week when I was able to purchase 2 gigs of RAM for $100 on sale, original price $300! Woo hoo! I bought myself an external hard drive for my birthday this last year. Another woo hoo! The letters on my keyboard have worn off, and I have worn little indentations into the keys. I guess this is a combination of playing around and transcribing.
4. I used to want to be a moutain biker in college. I wanted to buy a Rock Hopper bike really bad, but never got to. My cousin Kara is a real mountain biker. She is so cool. I am now too old and/or too tired to do it.
5. I married an American Indian. My kids are American Indians. I am not an American Indian and never will be. My father-in-law is full blooded Paiute Indian, therefore my hubby is half and my kids are one-fourth. Since I wasn't born into the tribe, I will never get to be a member of the tribe. At least my kids get some help for college as the tribe helps pay for them. Woo hoo!
6. I LOVE geneaology! If I'd have known that I could get a job in this field, I would have majored in this in college. (I think BYU is the only one that has this major. Maybe not.) When I retire, or better yet, when the kids are all in school, this is what I will be spending a lot of my time doing!
7. One of these days I am going to have a library in my house like Belle in Beauty and the Beast. This is my dream. To have ladders that go all the way around the room. Miles and miles of books. Heck, I would settle for yards or feet or inches of books, as long as I had a ladder. ;)
